Their story
Terlato Artisan Spirits is the spirits arm of Terlato Wines, the family-run wine company based in Lake Bluff, Illinois. In 2013 the Terlatos set up a separate team to build a portfolio of spirits made by independent, often family-owned producers.
The early lineup included Nonino grappa from Italy, Langley's No. 8 gin, and Marnier Cognac, with whisky, rum, and tequila added over time. The collection has kept growing, including a 2024 move to add Texas-based Blackland to the stable.
How it's made
Terlato does not distill most of these spirits itself. It partners with established makers who keep their own methods, from grappa distilled from fresh pomace to single-cask Scotch, and handles the import, marketing, and distribution.
Marnier Cognac is a perfect brand for our Artisan Spirits portfolio
Why we carry them
Terlato's eye for small, family producers lines up with how we shop. Their portfolio is a reliable place to find well-made bottles from houses we might not otherwise see.
