Their story
The Vale Fox Distillery sits on a 120-acre estate in LaGrange, New York, in the Hudson Valley. It was founded by Eral Gokgol-Kline, who leads the business as managing principal.
Its first release, Tod & Vixen's Dry Gin 1651, won a Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. That same year, as the pandemic hit, the distillery turned part of its production to hand sanitizer, selling it close to cost and giving the small surcharge to local businesses and their workers.
The team has since added barrel-aged gins and has a single malt whiskey in the works, with Eric Bachli named master distiller in 2020.
How it's made
Spirits are made in small batches on custom Forsyths stills. The gin starts with a wheat neutral spirit macerated with juniper, coriander, angelica root, red rooibos and fresh orange peel, then is bottled at 48% ABV without chill filtration.
Historically, distilleries have risen to the occasion in a world crisis.
Why we carry them
We like Tod & Vixen's as a classic, juniper-forward gin with a little warmth from rooibos and orange, and its higher proof holds up well in a martini.
