Their story

The Wonderland Project is the work of Matt Ahern, a former sommelier who spent years selling wine to top restaurants across the western U.S. He kept seeing the same gap on wine lists: a well-made, refined wine from quality fruit at a fair price.

In 2010 he decided to make that wine himself. He works with winemakers Andrew and Adam Mariani, and the range now covers Sonoma County Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

The labels lean into an Alice in Wonderland theme, with bottlings such as The White Queen Chardonnay and Two Kings Pinot Noir.

How it's made

Ahern buys fruit from established Sonoma and Napa growers and makes the wines with the Mariani brothers. The vineyards are farmed with organic practices.

Why we carry them

We think these bottles do what Ahern set out to do: pour like something pricier, and The White Queen is an easy pick for a dinner party.
