Their story
Third Street Aleworks has been part of downtown Santa Rosa since 1996, brewing on 3rd Street in the heart of Sonoma County. It started as a brewpub and has stayed a small, independent operation.
The brewery made its name with Blarney Sisters' Dry Irish Stout, which took gold at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup in the early 2000s. Its English Pale Ale earned gold medals at both competitions as well.
Alongside a few standbys like Bodega Head IPA, the lineup shifts from season to season, which the brewers see as the upside of staying small.
How it's made
The brewery focuses on Anglo-Celtic ales and bolder West Coast styles, plus lagers and hybrids that do not fit a neat category. Traditional cask-conditioned ales are a specialty.
Why we carry them
We like Third Street for its British-leaning ales, and the Blarney Sisters' stout is a good reminder that a dry stout can be light on its feet.
