TINCUP
Colorado-made American whiskey named for the tin cups miners drank from.
- Founded by
- Jess Graber
- Based in
- Denver, Colorado
Their story
TINCUP is the second whiskey from Jess Graber, a Colorado whiskey maker who earlier co-founded Stranahan's in Denver with George Stranahan. Graber spent about two decades working in whiskey and has long said life is too short for bad whiskey.
He built TINCUP as a blend, pairing a high-rye bourbon with a bit of the Colorado single malt from the same stock that goes into Stranahan's. The name nods to the tin cups that Colorado miners once used for their whiskey.
Proximo Spirits, which bought Stranahan's in 2010 and helped develop TINCUP, now owns both brands.
How it's made
TINCUP starts with a high-rye bourbon distilled and aged in Indiana. It is blended with a small portion of Colorado single malt whiskey and then cut to proof with Colorado mountain water.
Why we carry them
We like TINCUP as an easygoing, spicy pour for highballs and a fair-priced bottle to keep around for a weeknight Old Fashioned.
