Their story
Tenuta Torre Raone sits on a hill about 350 meters up near Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara, with the Adriatic on one side and the Gran Sasso mountains on the other.
The estate began in 1997, when Luciano, a farmer from nearby Tollo, bought a 35-hectare farm with vineyards and olive groves. One of its vineyards dates to 1974 and still supplies the Riserva. Winemaker Dante has led the cellar since 2014.
How it's made
Vines and olive trees are farmed organically, with ICEA certification. The estate works only with local grapes, including Montepulciano, Pecorino, Trebbiano and Cerasuolo, ferments with native yeasts and favors steel tanks over new oak to keep the fruit forward.
Why we carry them
We like Torre Raone for honest, everyday Abruzzo wine from organic vines. The Montepulciano is a natural partner for pizza and pasta night.
