Their story
Tox Brewing Company opened in April 2019 as New London, Connecticut's first brewery and taproom. Its founders, Dayne Laskey, Mike Zaccaro and Jon Ahlcrona, started home brewing together as students at UConn.
Laskey is a clinical toxicologist who teaches pharmacy and has worked in a hospital emergency department, and that background runs through the brand. The friends built much of the brewery themselves and raised part of the money through a Kickstarter campaign.
How it's made
Beers are brewed in small batches on the team's own system, and the founders were willing to dump hundreds of gallons of early batches that did not meet their standards. Each beer is named after a poisonous plant, animal or fungus, such as Deadly Nightshade and Belladonna.
I started naming our beers after poisonous plants, animals, and fungus.
Why we carry them
We love a brewery with a sense of humor and real skill to back it up. The names make them a fun gift for any science-minded beer fan.
