Their story
Chris Beyer caught the winemaking bug in college and later fell for the aperitifs he drank in Europe. In 2021 he started Veso, leasing a small winery on Treasure Island in the middle of San Francisco Bay to make wine-based aperitifs with a California point of view.
The lineup has grown to include the Solstice aperitif, Eclipse aperitif wines in Alpine, Bitter Citrus and Earl Grey, and savory vermouths flavored with olive, anchovy, miso, tomato and fig leaf. In 2026 production moved to a larger space in Sonoma.
How it's made
Each bottle starts with California wine, usually from organic or organically farmed vineyards, fortified with locally distilled grape spirit. Botanicals are organic and sourced close to home when possible, and each one is listed with its origin on the front label. No artificial flavors or additives are used.
Why we carry them
We love having a Bay Area-born aperitif on the shelf, and the savory vermouths make a very good martini. The Solstice is our pick for an easy spritz.
