Their story
Emeric and Elise Foléat make wine in the village of Mathenay, a short drive from Arbois in France's Jura. Before starting out on their own in 2007, Emeric spent eight years working alongside Jacques Puffeney, one of the region's most respected growers.
Their domaine is small, about 3.5 hectares spread across Arbois, Montigny-les-Arsures and Poligny, and they work out of an old farmhouse rather than a modern winery. The wines include Arbois Poulsard, Trousseau and Chardonnay.
How it's made
The vines are farmed organically. In the cellar the Foléats use old wooden casks and no modern equipment, deciding each vintage how to handle each parcel. Some wines spend extra time in barrel when they need it, and topping up is done by taste.
Why we carry them
We love these for anyone curious about the Jura. The Poulsard is light and lively and great with roast chicken or charcuterie.
