Their story
Weathered Souls Brewing opened in San Antonio, Texas, in the fall of 2016, with Marcus Baskerville as co-owner and head brewer. The brewery quickly built a following for hazy IPAs, rich pastry stouts, fruited sours and barrel-aged beers.
In 2020 Baskerville created Black Is Beautiful, an imperial stout with an open recipe that any brewery could make, as long as it gave proceeds to groups working on police reform and legal defense. Close to 1,200 breweries joined in, and the project made Weathered Souls known far beyond Texas.
How it's made
The brewery works across a wide range of styles, from a Vienna lager and blonde ale to heavily fruited kettle sours. Its barrel program ages stouts and barleywines in spirit barrels, including single-barrel releases from selected whiskey casks.
