Their story
Weingut Bründlmayer is a family estate in Langenlois, a wine town in Austria's Kamptal region in Lower Austria. The family's winegrowing history reaches back to 1581, and Willi Bründlmayer has led the estate since 1980.
The winery is known especially for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from terraced sites such as Heiligenstein and Lamm, whose Grüner Veltliner is the estate's flagship. The cellar keeps a library of wines going back to 1947.
How it's made
The estate farms about 80 hectares of mostly terraced vineyards organically, using green manure and compost and no herbicides. Some wines age in barrels made from local Manhartsberg oak, while Grüner Veltliner rests in large acacia casks. The estate also makes a traditional-method sparkling wine that is riddled by hand.
Why we carry them
Bründlmayer is a great way to learn what Grüner Veltliner can be at its best. The wines pair with just about anything from salads to roast chicken.
