Spirits
Willem Barentsz
A smooth premium gin built on wheat and rye spirits and jasmine.
Their story
Willem Barentsz gin takes its name from the Dutch navigator and Arctic explorer who led three voyages in search of a Northeast Passage to Asia. He died on the return from the last of them in 1597.
The gin is part of the portfolio of Pallini, the Italian family drinks company. Its bottle and botanicals nod to the explorer's travels, with ingredients drawn from around the world.
How it's made
The base is a blend of two non-GMO grain spirits, English wheat and Central European rye. Nine botanicals, each from a different part of the world, flavor it, including Chinese jasmine, Macedonian juniper, Chinese licorice, Italian iris and Spanish almonds.
Why we carry them
We like a gin with a soft, floral side, and the jasmine here comes through without taking over. It makes a gentle, aromatic gin and tonic.
