Their story

Xarmant is a txakoli made by the Artomaña winery in Amurrio, in the Basque province of Álava, not far from the Atlantic coast. It falls under the small Arabako Txakolina appellation, the least known of the three Basque txakoli regions.

The wine is the kind of crisp, lightly spritzy white that Basque bars pour from a height with pintxos, and it is also sold in cans for easy drinking outdoors.

How it's made

Xarmant is a blend led by the native Hondarribi Zuri grape with Gros Manseng and Petit Courbu. The vineyards are certified organic, farmed without synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.

Why we carry them

We like Xarmant as an easy introduction to txakoli: low in alcohol, salty and fresh, and made for oysters, anchovies or a sunny afternoon.
