Zafra
Long-aged Panamanian rum blended by veteran master blender Don Pancho Fernandez.
Their story
Zafra is a Panamanian rum whose name refers to the sugar cane harvest. The blends are the work of Francisco "Don Pancho" Fernandez, a master blender known across the rum world.
The brand is owned by Dana Wine & Spirits Importers and is best known for its older expressions, including a 21-year-old Master Reserve and a 30-year-old Master Series.
How it's made
Zafra starts with molasses that is distilled in a column still. The spirit is then aged for long periods in American oak barrels that once held bourbon, which gives the older bottlings their depth.
Why we carry them
This is a rum for sipping slowly, neat or with one ice cube. A good bottle for anyone who loves aged whiskey.
