Their story
Batanga is a tequila from the Orendain family, a tequila house founded in 1926 by Don Eduardo Orendain in Jalisco and still run by the family. The tequila is made in the town of Tequila from agave grown on the family's own fields.
The name is shared with the Batanga, a simple mix of tequila, lime, cola, and salt. The drink is tied to Don Javier Delgado Corona, who served it for decades at La Capilla, one of the oldest cantinas in Tequila, until his death in 2020 at age 95.
How it's made
Batanga is made from 100 percent agave from the Orendain fields, using traditional methods. The blanco is bottled unaged, while the reposado rests four to six months in ex-bourbon barrels.

Why we carry them
We think the blanco is the right tequila for making a Batanga at home. Salt the rim, squeeze in a lime, and top with cold cola.
