Their story

Bonne Maman comes from Biars-sur-Cère, a village in southwestern France, where Jean Gervoson started a preserves business in the late 1950s. In 1971 he and his wife Suzanne, the daughter of a fruit merchant, officially launched the Bonne Maman label.

The preserves reached the United States by the mid-1970s. Bonne Maman still belongs to the Andros group, which remains wholly owned by the Gervoson family.

How it's made

Bonne Maman's preserves use whole pieces of fruit cooked with cane sugar, with lemon juice in place of citric acid. The recipes are simple, and the company keeps its exact methods private.

Why we carry them

We think Bonne Maman is the jar that turns toast into a treat. The preserves taste like fruit first, and the jars are worth keeping.
