Their story
Bowman Brothers is a small-batch bourbon from the A. Smith Bowman Distillery, now in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The name honors four Bowman brothers who served as officers in the Virginia militia during the American Revolution.
Abram Smith Bowman opened the distillery in 1934 on his Sunset Hills farm in Fairfax County, with his sons helping run it. The operation moved to Fredericksburg in 1988, and the distillery was acquired by Sazerac in 2003.
How it's made
The bourbon is made from a corn-heavy mash with rye and malted barley. It is distilled in copper pot stills at the Fredericksburg distillery and aged in new charred oak barrels before bottling at 90 proof.
Why we carry them
We like Bowman Brothers as an easy way into Virginia bourbon. It is a friendly sipper with a real piece of American history behind it.
