Their story
Caputo's Market & Deli opened in Salt Lake City in the spring of 1997, founded by Tony Caputo. His son Matt joined to run marketing, helped turn the shop into a specialty market and now leads the company as CEO. It has grown to four locations.
Caputo's has played a role in Utah's food scene beyond its own walls. It helped incubate Creminelli Fine Meats and was the first retailer for Amano Chocolate, and Matt's work buying chocolate for the store led him to start a craft chocolate distribution company.
How it's made
The market focuses on traditional European foods, regional Southern European and local cheeses and cured meats, and craft chocolate. It ages some cheeses in its own cave and makes prepared foods in house.
