Their story

Ginger Elizabeth Hahn grew up in Camino, in the Apple Hill orchard country east of Sacramento, surrounded by home baking and fresh fruit. She studied pastry at the Culinary Institute of America, graduated at the top of her class, and worked under respected pastry chefs in Chicago and New York before returning to Northern California.

She started the business in 2005 as a wholesale line called Couture Chocolates by Ginger Elizabeth. In 2008 it took her name and opened its first shop in Sacramento. Her husband Tom, who came from kitchens like The French Laundry and Manresa, runs the business side while she leads the kitchen. In 2017 they opened a second shop on Fillmore Street in San Francisco's Cow Hollow.

How it's made

The kitchen develops and tests its own recipes, with about two dozen chocolate flavors plus macarons and ice cream. The team favors local vendors and organic farms and takes flavor cues from what grows nearby, and Hahn has traveled to Belize to source chocolate.

We try our best to be inspired by what grows around us,

Why we carry them

We love a chocolatier who thinks like a pastry chef. These bonbons are built around Northern California flavors, and they make an easy gift from close to home.
