Their story
Honeymoon Chocolates is the work of Cam and Haley Loyet, a married couple who now make chocolate in Clayton, just outside St. Louis. Haley grew up in a family that loved dessert, and Cam was raised in a house that kept sugar low. Honey-sweetened chocolate became their middle ground.
They made their first batch in a shared dorm kitchen while students at Illinois Wesleyan University, testing recipes with honey from a local beekeeper. A university grant in 2016 helped turn the project into a real company, and in early 2022 they opened their own factory in Clayton.
How it's made
Honeymoon makes bean-to-bar chocolate from cocoa grown in places like Haiti, Peru, Colombia, and Belize, and publishes the prices it pays farmers. Bars are sweetened with honey instead of cane sugar and wrapped in compostable packaging, and part of the proceeds supports the Pollinator Partnership.
Why we carry them
We think honey gives these bars a softer, rounder sweetness that is worth tasting side by side with a sugar-sweetened bar. A fun one for curious chocolate lovers.
