Their story

Brooks Reitz was working the bar at Fig in Charleston, South Carolina, when he noticed a run of good domestic gins and no premium tonic to go with them. So he started making tonic syrup by hand for the restaurant's gin and tonics, and in 2011 that syrup became Jack Rudy Cocktail Co.

The line has grown to include grenadine, bitters, Bloody Mary and Margarita mixes, bourbon-soaked cherries, vermouth-brined olives and bar tools. Reitz also owns several Charleston restaurants.

How it's made

Jack Rudy tonic is a concentrated syrup: mix it with soda water and gin for a gin and tonic. Early batches were made by hand in Charleston before production moved to a co-packer. The Margarita mix follows the lime and agave formula of a Tommy's Margarita.

That's really how it all started.

Why we carry them

The tonic syrup makes a gin and tonic you can tune to taste. The cocktail cherries belong in every Manhattan.
