Their story
Koia began in Chicago, where Maya French and Dustin Baker were bottling cold-pressed juice for local grocers. Maya is lactose intolerant and wanted a dairy-free protein drink, so they made one, and the response was strong enough that they dropped juice to focus on it.
A national deal with Whole Foods in 2016 took the brand from a few dozen stores to hundreds, and the team moved to Los Angeles. Koia is now sold in thousands of stores across the country.
How it's made
Koia shakes are fully plant-based, built on plant proteins and simple ingredients, and are free of dairy, soy and gluten. From the start the founders aimed for six grams of sugar or less per serving, using sweeteners like monk fruit.
We only use high quality ingredients
Why we carry them
We like Koia as a grab-and-go breakfast or post-workout drink that tastes like a milkshake without the dairy.
