Their story
Mac Nut Grove Farm is a five-acre farm on the slopes of Mauna Loa in upland Hōnaunau, South Kona, on Hawai'i Island. It is run by Lynne Sharman, Martha Brahm and Martha's son, Matthew Zilch, on land they lease from Kamehameha Schools.
The three work the land themselves, growing macadamia nuts and liliko'i, or passion fruit. Their sister business, Hawai'i Tart Company, turns the harvest into treats like caramel macadamia tarts and liliko'i caramel tarts, sweetened in part with honey from nearby Big Island Bees.
How it's made
The farm grows its own macadamia nuts and liliko'i on volcanic ground in South Kona. As much of the farm's own macadamia crop as possible goes into the tarts and other goods made by Hawai'i Tart Company.
It's just incredible how things survive and grow.
Why we carry them
We like Mac Nut Grove because it is a tiny family farm, and you can taste the fresh Kona macadamias in everything they make.
