Their story
Griffin Spolansky and Coco Sotelo met in a social entrepreneurship class at the University of Virginia and started mixing recipes for a protein bar together. They launched Mezcla in 2019 and are based in New York.
The bars have since spread to thousands of stores across the country. Since 2022 the company has partnered with The Hunger Project, an organization working to end hunger.
How it's made
Every bar is built on crisp puffs made from pea protein and rice starch, mixed with quinoa, nuts and seeds. The result has the texture of a crispy rice treat with about 10 grams of plant protein per bar, and the bars are vegan and gluten-free.
