Their story
Navitas Organics is the company Zach and Meghan Adelman built together, starting in 2003 under the name Navitas Naturals. Zach's interest in traditional foods led him to a small farmer cooperative in the Peruvian Andes, and through that partnership he began bringing maca to the United States.
The business started at home with a small personal investment, then moved into a business park in Novato, California, in 2004. Cacao and goji berries soon joined the line, and the company went on to become one of the early names in the superfood category. Navitas has been a Certified B Corporation since 2016.
How it's made
Navitas focuses on traditional and indigenous plant foods such as maca, cacao and goji, all certified organic. The company says it favors ethical and regenerative farming practices that limit environmental harm and support fair treatment of workers.
Why we carry them
A Marin County company with real roots in Peru, Navitas is an easy way to work cacao nibs and maca into smoothies and baking.
