Their story
Gabe Kennedy and Hudson Gaines-Ross met on a hike and bonded over something unusual: both had been through back surgery. Gabe, a trained chef from Boulder who comes from a family of healers, had found relief in herbalism and cannabis, and the two decided to share what had helped them.
They spent time talking with farmers, extractors and doctors before launching Plant People in 2018 as a CBD brand. When federal rules on CBD stalled, they shifted toward no-sugar gummies made with adaptogenic mushrooms and other botanicals, and in 2025 the company raised Series A funding led by Manna Tree.
How it's made
Plant People blends mushrooms, herbs and botanicals drawn from different healing traditions. The founders focus on unusual plant genetics and careful extraction, and they pay close attention to how each ingredient is farmed.
We are maniacal about the agricultural practices used in all of the plants we source.
