Their story

Popinsanity began almost by accident in Monsey, New York. A chef named Yankey, a former musician who had run a caterer and bakery in Miami, was left with a $300 popcorn machine after plans for a cafe fell through. At his daughter's graduation party, a guest asked for something sweet, so he drizzled syrups over the popcorn, and parents soon asked to buy more.

Word of mouth turned it into a business, with Aaron Zutler running sales and marketing and Yitz Joseph bringing decades of product development experience. In 2018 the popcorn landed on Oprah's Favorite Things list, and the company has grown well beyond its kosher roots while staying true to them.

How it's made

Yankey develops the flavors and makes the popcorn on custom machinery in Monsey, producing thousands of pounds a week. Flavors range from sweet and salty to cinnamon swirl, s'mores, pecan praline and maple French toast, and the line now includes candied nuts. Everything is kosher and pareve.

Why we carry them

We love Popinsanity's tins for holiday gifts and parties. The sweet and salty flavor disappears fast.
