Their story
RXBAR started in 2013 in the basement of Peter Rahal's parents' home in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where he and his friend Jared Smith worked out a protein bar made from a handful of whole ingredients. The brand grew quickly out of the Chicago area on the strength of its plain-spoken packaging.
Kellogg bought RXBAR in October 2017 for $600 million. The brand later moved to Kellanova, the snack company spun off from Kellogg, and is now part of Mars.
How it's made
The bars use egg whites for protein, along with dates, nuts, and simple flavorings. The ingredient list goes right on the front of the wrapper. The company later added nut butters that also include egg whites for extra protein.
Why we carry them
We keep RXBARs near the register for anyone who needs a quick, filling snack with a short ingredient list.
