Their story
Teaspressa is the work of Allison DeVane, a former barista who loved coffee but found it did not agree with her. Tea had been part of her family life growing up with a Korean mother, so she set out to make tea that could stand in for an espresso shot.
She launched in Arizona in 2015, sold drinks from a cart in Phoenix and appeared on Shark Tank a few months later. The brand opened a Phoenix cafe in 2018, then closed its retail shops during the pandemic to focus on packaged goods, which are now sold widely across North America.
How it's made
Teaspressa uses a patented process to turn loose-leaf tea into a concentrated shot with about the caffeine of espresso. Its LUX cubes, flavored sugar cubes for coffee, tea and cocktails, are mostly still pressed by hand.
Why we carry them
We like the sugar cubes as a small gift that makes a cup of tea or a glass of bubbly feel special. They are fun to have on a brunch table.
