Their story
The San Francisco Chocolate Factory is a family business rooted in the city it is named for. When it got its start in 1999, Mr. Litton and his children packed the very first tins by hand.
Over the years the company built a following for chocolates that celebrate the Bay Area, with tins printed with San Francisco landmarks and maps of California. It also created Wine Lover's Chocolate, a line designed to pair with specific wine varietals, which the company describes as the first of its kind.
Today the range runs from small gift tins to one-pound bags of chocolate, and the brand still operates out of San Francisco.
How it's made
The company makes milk and dark chocolates and chocolate-covered caramels, including bourbon and sea salt caramels in dark chocolate. Its Wine Lover's line is built around matching each chocolate to a particular grape variety. Pieces are packed into decorated tins and larger bulk bags.
Why we carry them
We like these tins as a small, edible souvenir of the city, and the Wine Lover's bars make an easy add-on when you are picking out a bottle for dinner.
