Their story

Tip Top Proper Cocktails was started in Atlanta by Yoni Reisman and Neal Cohen, two music festival veterans who wanted a canned drink that tasted like a real cocktail.

They brought in Miles Macquarrie, then beverage director at Atlanta's Kimball House, to develop the recipes. After about two years of work, they settled on stirred classics like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan and Negroni, skipping juice and bubbles that would need pasteurizing or pressure control.

The lineup has since grown to include drinks like the Jungle Bird and the Cosmopolitan, and the brand has collaborated with well-known bartenders on limited releases.

How it's made

Each drink is mixed from real spirits and modifiers to the bar's recipe, then filled into 100 ml cans. The cans are steel rather than aluminum because the high-proof cocktails, roughly 52 to 74 proof in the stirred range, would corrode aluminum. They are produced in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Why we carry them

We like keeping a few Tip Top cans in the fridge for a proper cocktail with zero effort; just pour over a big ice cube.
