Their story
Black Maple Hill is a whiskey brand from CVI Brands, a spirits importer and bottler in San Carlos, California, owned by Paul Joseph. It first appeared in 2000 and built a devoted following for its aged Kentucky bourbon and rye.
CVI does not distill. Its early bottlings are said to have come from respected Kentucky stocks, and as aged whiskey grew scarce the brand moved to releases without an age statement. In 2014 it introduced Oregon Black Maple Hill, sourced from an Oregon distillery.
How it's made
Black Maple Hill is a sourced whiskey, chosen and bottled by CVI rather than distilled in house. The Oregon releases come from casks roughly four to five years old, bottled in small batches.

As time went on, it became very, very difficult to get the aged whiskeys that we needed for the quality.
Why we carry them
Black Maple Hill has a long history with whiskey collectors, and the Oregon bottlings are a fun way to taste a West Coast take on bourbon.
