Their story
Domaine Bonnardot is a family estate in Villers-la-Faye, a village in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, the hills above Burgundy's famous slope. Danièle Bonnardot studied enology and biology in Dijon, then spent years working in financial markets before coming home at the end of 2008 to take over the family vines.
Her first vintage in charge was 2009. Since then she has moved the 20-hectare domaine, which includes a large planting of Aligoté, away from chemical treatments and toward organic farming.
How it's made
The vineyards sit at about 300 to 400 meters on shallow, limestone-rich soils, where cool nights help keep the wines fresh. Bonnardot farms organically without certification and picks most of the fruit by hand. That bright, high-acid fruit suits sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne.
Since 2015 I haven't used any chemical product
Why we carry them
We like Crémant de Bourgogne as a Champagne alternative for any day of the week. This one comes from a small family grower in the hills, which makes it more personal than most.
